With over 45 years of experience and completing over 2000 Historic restorations, His art restoration includes works in oil, egg tempura, acrylic, watercolor, gouache,  graphite, charcoal and pastel. 

Additionally, restoration of works on paper and prints include etchings, aqua tints, mezzo tints, steel plate engravings, photo lithographs and antique photographs have been superior. 

 

He worked independently for private collectors and institutions.   Then in 2003, he became the Director of Fine Art and Master Conservator for Norwood Promotional Products in Indianapolis, Indiana. 

Their private collection, comprised of more than 4,000 works of art, was one of the most comprehensive collections of Americana produced during the 20th Century.   The collection was in a dismal state. 

Intervention by Banuelos came just in time or this national treasure would have been lost.

John's  restorations have been evaluated by leading certified senior appraisers and conservators and described as “Excellent, some of the best I have ever seen”.  This has been attributed to his gift
